One of my favourite shapes is a spiral, especially those spirals found in nature. I love unfurling fern fronds, although I could only find one very small one in the garden this morning, and the shapes of ammonites and shells. The black ammonite is a fossil from our collection. The snail shell is one we found near the Border Ranges national park (on the border of Queensland and NSW) ..one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. I took a photo of it next to my scissors so you can see just how big the snails are. I’m planning to take lots of photos next time we go camping in the Border Ranges …they have the most fabulous trees called Arctic Beeches…huge gnarled trees covered in moss, as well as subtropical rainforest and beautiful creeks.
I was wandering around the Caron collection website and I found a collection of magazine articles, one of which is this article from Quilting Arts magazine on crazy quilts. The Caron website is full of interesting things – lots of on-line classes and information. Thanks to Elizabeth, I’ve become a bit of a ‘Caron watercolours’ fan. I’ll be doing a lot of my TAST stitches with it next year. I only discovered the internet, inaminuteago and TAST is week 42, so I am doing it next year – starting Tuesday 1 January 2008.
