After I wrote about fretting about this postcard and ripping out stitching, procrastinating and starting again, Susan sent me a lovely comment saying that I should get too worried about the postcard, there wasn’t any high expectation for the postcards being sent in and I do lovely work, so I shouldn’t worry. I wrote back and said:
1. It was bad because I was trying too hard
2. The new one is better
3. I am a dreadful exaggerator – I don’t like the truth to get in the way of a good story
4. I like to poke fun at myself,
5. I am enjoying the process of making the postcard
So it is finished and I am fairly happy with the end result. I always have very high expectations for my own work (unfounded based on my skill and tolerance level). I don’t think it is ‘me’, but then I am not sure I could pin point any one item I’ve made and say ‘yes – that defines me as a craftsperson’. Not that this postcard was meant to be a definitive piece….but so often I see something and think…yes that reminds me of …..
Anyway it is done, and I now am thinking of an ATC to make for Dominique from Doms Chiffons who has proposed a swap. Dominique does lovely work and seems to understand my hideously mangled attempts at French (which I write in Aussie and get the computer to translate – goodness knows what comes out the other end).
Enjoy Earth Hour tonight …..or Earth Minute if you happen to live in the wilds of Michigan

Looks wonderful to me. It also appears that you had fun stitching and wrapping.

That’s a mighty fine postcard and would meet anyone’s high expectations. When you say it isn’t you-do you have a colour or range of colours that are you? I ask this because I don’t know that I do either, but I am very fond of feather stitch as decoration.
